Why Metal? Why not!
Superior Materials Make Superior Frame Protection
History and proven that many people fight change because of the lack of trust in new product designs and materials. The fear of the unknown makes many people concerned about how the change will disrupt their established skill level.
The material evolution of racket and paddle frames from wood to aluminum to graphite/carbon fiber frames is proof that material and design changes were necessary to advance tennis and pickleball equipment performance and durability.
One and done!
Same with the longstanding racket and paddle frame protection problem in high-impact areas. It's time to evolve from protection tapes made from ineffective strengthened polyurethane and thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) materials, known to withstand 3-4 hard court contacts before it needs to be replaced, to a superior material.
EXO PROTEX's patent pending Metallic Shield is made of a flexible yet durable aluminum alloy, guaranteed to guard racket and paddle frames from court contact damage for the life of the racket/paddle. The shield matches the tape product's thickness, weight, and ease of installation with guaranteed durability. It also contours to all tennis rackets and most pickleball paddles.
Attach it, that's it!
Best of all, beyond the lifetime guarantee, it's MAINTENANCE FREE! Never again will racket and paddle players have to endure the frustrating, non-stop chore of constantly applying and removing inefficient polyurethane tape. Why subject yourself to replacing the tape over and over, wasting valuable time and money. The Metallic Shield's were also designed to not interfere with the replacement of strings or bumper guard.
Paperclip power!
Each of the four Metallic Shields weight 1 gram (the weight of a paperclip). It is common practice to add a small amount of weight at the top third of a racket head to improve power and stability at impact. Additionally, the shield’s few grams help to reduce frame-twisting on off-center hits.
Just the facts
Sporting equipment, especially tennis rackets and pickleball paddles, endure extreme stresses and are confronted with harsh environments. Many actively involved racket and paddle sport enthusiasts struggle with extending equipment performance life and retaining its physical appearance and value.
Sporting activities played on a hard surface combined with sand wears down sporting equipment. For example, tennis rackets and pickleball paddles are used while playing on such surfaces and are extremely susceptible to extensive wear with every swing.
Pickleball paddles do not have bumper guards or supply any other paddle protection devices. A plastic bumper guard on a tennis racket provides limited protection for the top one-third of a racket head. This is the location where most of a racket/paddle surface damage occurs.
When there is an unreasonable amount of racket frame wear a racket is subject to collapse when a ball impacts the strings, a racket contacts a court surface, or during a restringing of a racket. Many tennis racket manufacturers include a flexible plastic bumper guard to resist initial damage from a harsh court surface, unfortunately, the area of a bumper guard that spans across the width of a racket frame beam has the least amount of plastic material at the corners where the frame’s top and bottom rim meets the outer beam. This leaves the corner surfaces unprotected and open to impending damage. Continued use of a racket will experience further bumper guard surface wear and eventually the bumper guard will no longer cover high impact areas leaving the racket frame surface unprotected.
A standard bumper guard is secured to the head of a racket by the strings; thus, it is held in place leaving the worn away areas unprotected from the harsh elements until the entire bumper guard is replaced during the re-stringing of a racket. New generations of rackets are regularly released; this will leave past generations of rackets to be discontinued along with the production of replacement bumper guards for those rackets, resulting in the inability to properly protect a racket head when it is time to replace the bumper guard.
The extensive damage while unprotected will significantly reduced its performance capabilities and overall value to the racket owner. Reluctantly, this is often the main reason why racket owners are forced to prematurely replace the racket they specifically selected and planned on using for many years.
Alterative devices such as strenghtened frame protective tapes state their products resist damage to racket and paddle sporting equipment from repeated contact with rough court surfaces, which depletes paddle and racket surfaces, performance, and value. The lightweight tape products are easily attached to a racket and paddle head but lack durability. Tape products wear through a racket and paddle’s surface when contacting the course court surface after a minimum of three to four times. Monitoring the wear of tape and regular replacement of a worn area is a distraction for the equipment owner during use of their racket and/or paddle.
